heavily inspired by the work of Robyn Haddow

FUI stands for Fantasy User Interface and it is a Motion Designer’s job to create them so they can be placed on screens to show those interfaces we all know from the movies.
this examples uses a DNA-Helix which was built, textured and animated in Cinema 4D and finalized with more data in After Effects.

the final version:

and applied to screens:

Edit of different projects and experimenting that I have made between January and February 2017.
all scenes were made in-house using Cinema 4D and After Effects.

“keep growing together. 150 years create future.”
with this slogan in mind I was asked to create an animation that will be used for a TV-show as an intro.
color-pencils were used by the Swiss Kantonalbank already in the run-up to their anniversary-contest and should be part of the animation to show the 40 locations (4 major) geographically in the eastern part of Switzerland of the winner’s and where their projects will be realized.

this guideline lead me to this solution:

but for the tv-station the duration was to long and therefore this is the version that will/was be broadcasted:

from the technical point of view I used “Digital Elevation Maps” to create a geographically correct 3D landscape model and used satellite images to texture it. with this base it was an easy task to animate the pencils over it.

edit of some work and experimenting done so far in 2016 into a Journal-Reel.

[for better resolution check this video out at the 3D Animation page]

all done in-house as own projects (participation on collaboration projects will be shown separately!).

using Maxon Cinema 4D (with: X-Particles, TurbulenceFD, NitroBlast and others), Adobe After Effects (with: Element 3D, Nodes 2, Trapcode Suite and others).

almost 9 meters (30 feet) long and 3 meters high (10feet) space available in a confectionery and “almost” the absolut freedom to create whatever I wanted.

“the gods“ of chocolate and all those fine goodies became my theme including the client’s wish to show his products with it.

sketched on paper, built and rendered with Cinema 4D with all elements including smoke (using TurbulenceFD) and finally composed in Affinity Photo.

Based on Manuel’s tutorial “CREATING GEOMETRY WITH PYTHON IN C4D” I created a little rig to have all XPresso and Python ready in a c4d-file with some user-data to fill in and get started right away!
here a quick sample of what it does:

feel free to download the rig from the freebie page

for the Swiss Kantonalbank I had the opportunity to contribute with some Motion Design for a movie that will be feautred during the Management-Forum 2016.

I was responsible for the creation on an Intro, 3D Animations that reveal 5 questions that will be asked during the film, animated Lower-Thirds for each interview-partner, the Outro for the final credits and the music.

classic, laid-back, timeless and elegant was my motto for the concept for each part to fit seamless into the footage that was provided.

here an edit with the focus on the Motion Design elements that were used:

starting with TurbulenceFD and using its simulation to drive about 2 million X-Particles with advection.
those were saved to prt-files with 10 partitions and loaded with the “Krakatoa PRT Loader” back into the Cinema 4D scene.
result were about 20 million particles that have been rendered into this clip!
