3D Modeling


 
basically in what ever order you put the spheres, they always get sorted by their colour at the end.
the way the inside obstacles are organized the spheres bounce depending on their mass, luminescence and colour-depth.
the inside structure has also a strong influence due to optics and reflections which are also helping to guide the spheres.
basically optics, structure and mass are responsible that the sorting by colour works ; )

seriously … all CGI. just some practice to integrate a 3D render into real footage.
and the idea of this colour-sorting-machine was inspired by an existing video but was a good exercise!

FUI stands for Fantasy User Interface and it is a Motion Designer’s job to create them so they can be placed on screens to show those interfaces we all know from the movies.
this examples uses a DNA-Helix which was built, textured and animated in Cinema 4D and finalized with more data in After Effects.

with this slogan in mind I was asked to create an animation that will be used for a TV-show as an intro.
color-pencils were used by the Swiss Kantonalbank already in the run-up to their anniversary-contest and should be part of the animation to show the 40 locations (4 major) geographically in the eastern part of Switzerland of the winner’s and where their projects will be realized.

but for the tv-station the duration was to long and therefore this is the version that will/was be broadcasted:


 

from the technical point of view I used “Digital Elevation Maps” to create a geographically correct 3D landscape model and used satellite images to texture it. with this base it was an easy task to animate the pencils over it.
